A relationship with painting
Ricardo Andrews works across painting, ceramics and jewellery. In his current series, ADENTRO, he explores inner experience through simplified faces, contrasts of colour and expressive lines.
His archive preserves records of a relationship with painting that began in childhood: press coverage from 1979, documentation of an exhibition in Viña del Mar in 1980, and a show shared with his brother Omar in 1986. These documents trace specific moments in his history.
On the current body of work
ADENTRO
The face offers a way into experiences that do not always find a verbal form: exposure to others, hesitation, absence, curiosity, and the coexistence of different emotions. The five ADENTRO paintings approach these questions from a personal perspective.
